Online Counsellor
B.A. (Hons), M.A. Counselling (London)
Julie completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology with Latin honours at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After, she pursued her Master of Arts in Counselling at Goldsmiths, University of London. She works with psychodynamic counselling, especially focusing on self-esteem, childhood experiences, and family and relationship dynamics. Her aim is to help her clients in their personal development, through developing thoughtful reflection and increased self-awareness.
In her time in London, Julie has provided counselling for a variety of organisations, providing weekly sessions with clients who ranged in age, race, socioeconomic status, religion and spirituality. In the therapy room, she works with her clients, striving to create an atmosphere built on trust. Julie believes that through building a partnership with her clients, reparative and positive work is possible.
Julie’s multi-cultural sensitivity was developed during significant time spent in the United States, Denmark, and Brazil. Having adapted to the different countries, she understands the processes and seeks to support others through the adjustment of moving to a new place – or even the journey back home to Singapore!
Everyone meets stress and anxieties in their lives – fighting an unseen battle everyday. Perhaps you are facing a lot of pressure at work and things seem to be clashing at home. You might feel your frustrations are mounting, you have the sense that you are not meeting expectations by others, and your relationships are suffering. Feelings of loneliness and isolation have started to overwhelm you. If you have any of these sensations or feelings, then therapy can be a space where you can learn from your past, find back your balance, and bring the focus to what truly matters to you.
Julie welcomes your thoughts and reflection on these experiences into the counselling sessions. And through collaboration with you will seek to discover the underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviours that may be impacting you as you navigate your relationships and environments. In her practice, she aims to create a space that is empathetic, non-judgmental, and encouraging.
She is currently based abroad, and is available for specific timeslots due to time zone differences. Kindly contact the practice if you would like to explore having online sessions with Julie.
