Schema Therapy Masterclasses - Professional Development for Counsellors and Psychologists

On 30th and 31st July 2025, ImPossible Psychological Services organized two schema therapy masterclasses for mental health professionals. The masterclasses were attended by professionals from various organizations. They were conducted by Dr John Louis, an Advanced-Accredited Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer.

The first of two days of the professional development training on schema therapy was on “Positive Schemas”. As the developer of the Young Positive Schema Questionnaire (YPSQ), Dr Louis shared his knowledge on positive schemas. Attendees also learned how to apply their knowledge on positive schemas in working with clients in therapy, including how to conduct positive imagery.

In the “Repair and Reconnect” masterclass, Dr Louis covered how early maladaptive schemas in parents and children may lead to dysfunctional patterns and negative interactions in their relationship. Attendees then learnt to apply the concepts from schema therapy in rebuilding the relationship between parent and child. The knowledge and skills from this schema therapy masterclass would definitely be valuable for counsellors and psychologists working with families.

Following this successful run of schema therapy professional development courses, ImPossible is looking forward to conducting more courses for mental health professionals. Keep a lookout for future announcements!
